Have you ever felt the need to google “computational thinking” when it’s mentioned in conversations about STEAM programming trends for teens? You’re not alone! Join us for this interactive workshop! Together we’ll move past the jargon and explore the importance of computational thinking for young adults through an accessible overview from a subject matter expert from the Space Science Institute, lively discussion, and hands-on activities. Learn how you are already implementing elements of computational thinking and connected learning. Prior knowledge in technology and coding skills, not required. Come away with new, attainable ideas for youth programming and language for advocacy.

Learning outcomes:
  1. Attendees will be able to articulate core concept of computational thinking (CT) and begin designing activities for and with teens that connect to CT.
  2. Attendees will be able to understand the value of integrating CT into activities for and with teens.
  3. Attendees will be able to connect CT to pre-existing library activities and services.
